Branch Weaving

This is a great activity to do outdoors using yarn and textiles found around the home. The finished weaving looks great as a wall hanging or as temporary garden art.

Along with finding a suitable V shaped branch, please only select branches that have been naturally discarded, you only need a few other things for branch weaving:

  • Scissors
  • Darning needle or needle with a large eye (you can use your fingers but it can be fiddly)
  • Variety of yarns, string, or fabric strips
  • Kitchen fork or wide toothed comb*
  • Secateurs* (to trim your branch to desired size)
*optional
